Simon is a great musician and a formidable music teacher. When I was looking for lessons locally, he stood out as being almost the only one with what I would call a proper training in what I was looking for. He is passionate about music and has shared that passion with very many pupils over the years. I studied with him from a Grade 5 standard. With him I received a distinction at my Grade 8 and I am currently studying with him for my Associateship Diploma. Simon is quick witted, funny, challenging and inspiring. He teaches all levels and ages with the same passion - my children are also having lessons with him. I warmly recommend him to anyone who wants their learning of Music to be rewarding as well as a lot of fun!

If you are looking for a piano teacher who is not only incredibly talented but also an amazing mentor, look no further than Simon. I've been taking lessons with him for three years now and it's been such a rewarding experience. Simon has this incredible ability to make even the most complex techniques feel achievable. His lessons are always engaging and fun, and he has a knack for explaining things in a way that just makes them click. It's obvious how much he genuinely cares about all his students. Over the years, Simon's belief in me, not just as a pianist, but as a person, has had a big impact on my outlook. I have had singing lessons with Simon for several years. I had done my Grade 8 with another teacher, had a break and then resumed again with Simon. He is very encouraging and lessons are fun as well as good training. I really feel that I have achieved something each lesson and always come out of on a high. He instils confidence and even persuaded me to give a little concert to my friends in a hired church; something I would never had thought I would have the confidence to do but that I did successfully and greatly enjoyed - as did my friends! Singing colleagues comment on the improvement to my voice and now, in my mid 60s I have been working towards my diploma and should be ready to take it soon, which is really exciting. I would thoroughly recommend him.

Simon is MD of the chamber choir Viva la Musica, which I was privileged to be accepted as a member of in September last year; and he’s been giving me private singing lessons since January this year, guiding me to ABRSM grade 7. He’s rightly acknowledged to be an exceptional musician and a brilliant teacher - encouraging and demanding in perfect balance. His generosity and enthusiasm and respect for music are boundless. He certainly asks a lot of his singers and pupils, but he gives back in bucketloads. With thanks for everything.
